We waited and we even whined for our summer season to begin. I don’t know about you, but for me it seems that each summer passes quicker than the last. We need to savor each day. I’m so thankful to have time to listen to each summer morning awaken. The birds are so happy and the chipmunks and bunnies are driving my two fur boys absolutely crazy.
For our family we have had a busy start to summer. We have celebrated the family wedding, the high school graduation of our youngest and are still enjoying the west coast family here with us for couple of weeks. The weather has been perfect to enjoy pool time with the grand-kids and get eaten by mosquitoes while Matthew entertained the grands, with weak fireworks.
We still have a full plate for the rest of the summer. We have parties and celebrations to attend. Matthew and I have a couple of home improvement projects to tackle. We also have a couple of running races that are coming up on the calendar. Along with all of these activities, there are the summer chores that add to the summer pleasures. The gardening and weeding and such. I still have to pick strawberries this week before they are gone and make jam. Matthew asks why I still make jam and I just tell him because that is what we do !! Who cares if there are less people around the home to eat it. It makes a great gift for family and friends as well. Oh, and I almost forgot, I have been asked by two families, if I would offer a time for a young baking apprentice to come along side to teach some of my trade. So, I’m finding a spot towards the end of the month to have these two young ladies join me. I’m so looking forward to that !!
So with all of this being said, my menu is back and I am back to baking. Though you may notice that the menu is modified. Also, I have taken on some special orders for parties and events, which means that my menu will be offered on a first come first serve. I will fill as many orders as possible.
Enjoy your summer !! Savor every moment !! From every sticky humid day to every mosquito bitten night !! Remember along with the mosquito’s come the fireflies and long summer evenings.
