Our new brick and mortar baking adventure started back at the beginning of March. Then the pandemic hit and we were stopped in our tracks. Well sort of. We were able to get to work on the transformation of the old bar into new bake shop. As I have said before it has been a labor of love. Matthew and I have had a great time learning along the way. It has been our very own DIY journey. Thank you to my sons for their time in helping in this venture. My oldest son Andrew, made the top of my bar, a one of a kind piece of art. A special thank you to my in laws, Barb and Henry for all of the support. Henry has helped Matthew on many of the projects and they have purchased the cute coffee mugs for our shop. Not only that, but their love and support have helped us through.
A week from tomorrow, we will be opening the doors. My hope is that you will find it an inviting place to come. I will NOT be taking special orders for at least a few weeks. I am the baker of this operation and will only be able to take on so much per week. There have been many questions about how I will be able to keep the bakes stocked. Well, the short answer is that I probably won’t. This is a specialty bake shop and if I sell out of something, I will do my best to get fresh ones baked as soon as possible.
Even though I am more than excited about opening this bakery, I also have a peace about my priorities. We will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. I will also always put my family first. So if that means, hanging my closed sign up, to get to a grand-chick’s event or first birthday, that will happen. I may not always be able to be open for you or be able to fill your request. My goal is to put a little sweetness into your life. Be patient with me as I will be learning as I go and taking one day at a time.
As for now, I am not going to set my weekly hours . I really have to give it a few weeks to get the feel for what seems to fit for our community and my family.
So plan to stop by on Saturday September 26th from 7:00am to 3:00 pm. We will have fresh bakes, and Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters Coffee, along with other drinks available. We will be abiding by the rules set for our state in order to keep us safe. With that being said, please wear your mask and be respectful of social distancing. It’s just a matter of respect for each other. That way, we can all have a great experience and enjoy our new community Bake Shop.
Make sure when you come next Saturday, to get a selfie with my beautiful hen that adorns the inside of our place. Thank you to Bonnie Blair for her talents !! Take that selfie and get it out there on social media. Looking forward to seeing YOU at Fluffing Feathers and Flour Bake Shop, 9 South Main Street, Manchester Ny.
