Your Mood is in Your Food

It has been a surreal summer so far. We are reaching the end of July already. The world news is overall somber and the political climate is ……. let’s just say more than a touch of “Cray-Cray”. I don’t know about you, but for me I find myself stepping back from the world and breathing deep the summer air and enjoying the moments that matter.

That being said, I want to extend this mood to our Bake Shop. It was never my intention to be the Biggest or most Popular of Bakeries. My goal has always been not only bake small batches for you, but to give you an option for a bake that is made with intention. Not manufactured but made with soul and love. I have a passion for baking and I do feel that passion is not only reflective in the end product, but must be essential to truly providing an experience worth taking part of.

Fluffing Feathers and Flour is bustling with summer with orders. I made the decision to not accept any further custom orders for the rest of the summer. It is difficult to turn people away. Often we find ourselves on the receiving end of unhappy folks. That can be frustrating and sometimes hurtful. In this day, everyone is use to quick service and instant results. Our Bake Shop is not a fast food chain or Franchise disguised as a small Patisserie. One of my greatest joys is baking for you and I will not loose my passion for baking by trying to please the masses. If that sounds harsh, it shouldn’t. It is my pledge to keep us passionate about our bakes to grow only in how good our bake is, not on how many we sell.

I’m proud to say that our bakes have come a long way in a short time. If you haven’t had one lately, I implore you to stop in and try. The muffins are softer, the rolls are bigger and the bagels are chewy and excellent. We are testing new ingredients with intention to making the finest product we can. This is a labor of love.
