To say the years go by fast may be cliche, but seemingly true. Close to four years ago, the opportunity came for my side business of Cottage Baking, to become a store front Bake Shop. To say I was naive is an understatement. But I had a dream and a plan. Matthew, our family and I worked night and day to make the old musty bar into my little bakery.Within months of being open we started having growing pains. Certainly we learn something new each day, but that first year had many challenges. I knew in my heart , being a woman of ... Keep Reading

Life is an Adventure
A little over two years ago, Matthew and I made the commitment to follow the path where God was leading and open a small bake shop. Fluffing Feathers has been up and running at our, 9 South Main Street Manchester, location for a little over a year and a half. We have had so much to learn and are still learning everyday. Some blunders have left us with eggs on our face. Other times we have brought joy through our bakes which in turn gives us joy. We have left the bakery in the wee hours of the morning only to turn right around and go back to ... Keep Reading
Spread the Love and Have a Fresh Bake….
Happy Sunday !! So thankful for a day of rest. The last couple of months at Fluffing Feathers have been a real challenge. Amy and I have struggled to keep up with the demand and sometimes our longing to please others has had us biting off more than we can chew. (puns are always intended)It's been my experience not to breathe life into the negative, especially when it is so tiny in comparison to the enormous amount of amazing folks we meet and serve each day. Only to say, we have heard the tiny thread of untrue garble.... What we will ... Keep Reading
September Already
As I write this, the rain is coming down. The sound is soothing to me, as I enjoy a morning of quiet. This wasn't the plan, I should be at the bakery whipping up more treats, instead I am filling my soul with some much needed quiet time. I am learning to cherish these times when they are offered. This morning my sweet husband turned to me and said, "stay in bed". He knew that I was exhausted, so thoughtfully he would get the bakery opened and operated until Amy arrived at 8:00. I'm so thankful for Amy. She has been a Godsend. She has ... Keep Reading
Finally
Our new brick and mortar baking adventure started back at the beginning of March. Then the pandemic hit and we were stopped in our tracks. Well sort of. We were able to get to work on the transformation of the old bar into new bake shop. As I have said before it has been a labor of love. Matthew and I have had a great time learning along the way. It has been our very own DIY journey. Thank you to my sons for their time in helping in this venture. My oldest son Andrew, made the top of my bar, a one of a kind piece of art. A special ... Big Sigh
What a summer. My brain is mush and maybe that is a good thing. There is so much going on in the world and I am preoccupied with getting the new bakery up and running . Along with that, we have had an amazing surprise visit from my daughter in law and sweet granddaughter, the last couple of weeks. Top it off with me still filling my Mondays with hair clients and that all equals to mush brain for me. I'm not going to even talk about age. Let that one go !!The family heads back home tomorrow night and that means I will be rolling my ... Keep Reading
