It’s another rainy Monday morning here in Upstate New York. It really isn’t unusual this time of the year. I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s also very easy to fall into the trap of letting the rain get me down. In fact if we listen to the media and the voices all around us, then just the fact of it being Monday should be reason enough to get us down in the pits of despair.
Life is messy. We all go through trials, loss, despair, grieve. We’ve all been wronged and misunderstood. Sometimes we have to cut ties for safety or give a stiff arm to a relationship that is destructive and or harmful. There will be health battles and loss of the ones we love, because we are human. News flash, we are vulnerable and fragile. Yes, life is fragile. We age and if we are fortunate to age, then we will experiences more and more losses. Isn’t this an uplifting blog…..
So where is your sunshine ? Sure, I’m talking about attitude, but for me it’s much greater than attitude. Let me tell you, I can definitely have a bad attitude. However, staying close to the one that fills me with His Spirit and Strength daily, is the only way that I can find my sunshine. The bible says that God will give us His daily bread. He gives us comfort and guidance.
Psalms 34:17 -18 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
It’s a rainy Monday morning. I don’t know what your weekend was like, or what your month or last few years have been about. Maybe you have awaken to step out of bed only to remember that the one who has given you so very much to smile and live for each day, is no longer here to hold and love and laugh with. It may seem easy for me to say, don’t despair. They wouldn’t want you to despair and you are alive. Find your sunshine. Make your sunshine. Meditate on the one who will fill you with sunshine. Most of all give sunshine. Even when you don’t feel like you have any to give.
I start each day in the word of God. My morning devotionals and prayers set a tone and help me to focus on what is important in life. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you need to rely on your own strength. Where does my help, my strength come from? It comes from the Lord. He is the maker of heaven and earth. Then I feel sunshine.
Breath deep and exhale. It is the start of a new week and we can have a pity party or make a difference. Find the sunshine. Feel the sunshine . Then be the sunshine. Happy Monday to you and yours.
Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
