Thoughts For 2020

January 4, 2020 Baking, Family

Just like that, our holiday season is behind us and a new year begins. Not just any year, it is the beginning of the year 2020 !   In this new year of even numbers, I’d like to begin with a quick and thoughtful reflection of the past year and then a forward motion look of determination for this fresh new one.
Reflecting on the past year, as with anyone, there are highs and lows. We have had great times to treasure and times of grief and sorrow. There were times to be proud of and times that in hindsight, I wish that for myself I had handled a situation or two differently. I ended up with bumps and bruises both physically and emotionally. Through it all learning yet again life lessons to take forward and wounds to heal or let go of.
Most importantly in reflecting over the past year, I treasure the people that God has placed in my path. So many amazing and inspiring people that I am honored to call friend. We may or may not share the same opinion on the hot topics of the day, but we share something so much more important. We share a genuine desire to respect and love each other and mankind. And whatever passion brings us together as friends, unites us and grows us in our walk through this life. So many life lessons. Never forget to learn and grow.
Our family has started out this new year with a new addition. We celebrated the birth of our newest family member Niylah Rose. She is the precious daughter of my son Grant and his beloved X’zayvianna. In a few short days my daughter in law Ashley and I will fly across the country to finally meet this new little one and love up on this sweet little family. What a way to start the new year off !!
There are no grand resolutions for me this year, instead I plan to breath in each new day that God grants me with and strive to be thoughtful in my steps and mindful of the gift of each fresh new day.
I’m so thankful to have this getaway with Ashley. I’m also thankful for a few weeks off to rest and restore. There is already an excitement brewing inside of me for February’s fresh new menu and a spring filled with many new baked goods and new adventures.
Happy New Year to you and your family !! Please check back on February 1st !!

Pleased to meet you.

I live in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York. I'm a mother of four sons and four grandchildren. We have two dogs a cat and a chicken coop full of a variety of hens. Though, I would have a backyard full of zoo animals if it were possible. My handsome husband Matthew, is not only the love of my life, but the official taste tester of all of my baking creations.
