Life is good. We have been fortunate and extremely blessed. This season of life has been very good to us. We have our health and we have our beautiful family, our nest is grown, and most of all we have our amazing love. Yes, Matthew and I are aware of just how beautiful a season it is. I’m not writing this to gloat, only to state the facts.
Last year I started a new venture. It was something to fill the void that I was starting to feel as the youngest chick began to venture into adulthood. Never did I even begin to fathom that what started as a, “let’s turn this hobby into a productive one”, would go to a brick and mortar business. With that being said, I have had one sign after another that this is what our next chapter is suppose to be.
I am a person of faith in God and the older I get the more I truly allow Him to guild my path and lead the way. I don’t have all the answers and for me that doesn’t stir up any worry or concern. There is a plan and a purpose and I’m just showing up and enjoying every minute of it.
It’s been such a blessing to feel the support of family, friends and actually strangers that I hope will become good friends of the bakery. It’s an exciting time. I’m testing new recipes every week and trying to refine my menu for the impending opening. And I have felt fearless, with the assurance in my heart that this is going to be something good and my Superman Husband who always has my back.
So what is on my mind today ? Well, as we get closer to actuality, there have been the tiniest of negative concerns and then a couple of quite frankly “OUCH” comments on our hard work and vision. It had made me have a few Eeyore moments over the last few days. However, today is a new day !! I have my shield up and have understanding that when a good thing is about to happen there may be a force that will try to knock it down.
So pressing forward here are a few answers to questions. The purpose of the bakery/coffee shop is multi-faceted. Manchester doesn’t have a bakery and we hope to fill a void. We hope to have a place that people can come and visit with a fresh baked good and cup of Finger Lakes coffee. That’s it. Plain and simple. It will be my pleasure to bake your special cake or dessert. We hope that our business will stir others to take the plunge to follow their dreams. We are doing this for our community and lastly we are doing this for our family. If nothing else to show them that if they have a desire to do something to indeed do it. Will there be mistakes along the way, absolutely. I expect to learn something new daily.
I don’t expect to meet all of your baking needs. We have an amazing bakery around the corner in Shortsville. Businesses should compliment each other and the more store fronts that we can fill in our little community the more reason there will be to stop and browse and thrive. I’ve spent over thirty years being a hairdresser in the area. Let me tell you ,we have a ton of amazing hairdressers around. There has never been a lack for work and we all keep extremely busy.
So, no I don’t have the answer to the question of when we will have a bakery open. We hope that we will have a positive answer for you on that soon. Once a date has been set, believe me EVERYONE will know. When we do open, please be patient with us.
It’s been a crazy year so far. So many hurting people and so much grief. So much anger. Be kind. Show love. Live in community.
