Nostalgia, that sentimental swell of memories that conjure up feelings and emotions of an almost forgotten time. Yes, over the last few weeks, there is something brewing inside of me. It's hard for me to even put a finger on one event, because I'm sure there are several life events that are leading me to feel nostalgic, but there also seems to be another force that is beckoning me to reflect on memories of the past.In less than a month my youngest son will graduate high school. He is the youngest of four sons, and is fifteen years ... Keep Reading
The Softer Side
It's an absolutely gorgeous Monday morning in Upstate New York. The sun is shining and the birds are singing. We had a morning shower and now everything feels and smells softer to me. The sweet soft smells of everything that is blooming and the soft smell that the air and grass seem to have, after the brief shower. The Hummingbirds seem to glide with an effortless softness as they approach my feeders. Everything seems to be welcoming me to the softer side of life.Just last night, as I looked at pictures that my Sweet Matthew took, ... Keep Reading
Monday Morning Sunshine
It's another rainy Monday morning here in Upstate New York. It really isn't unusual this time of the year. I don't know about you, but for me, it's also very easy to fall into the trap of letting the rain get me down. In fact if we listen to the media and the voices all around us, then just the fact of it being Monday should be reason enough to get us down in the pits of despair.Life is messy. We all go through trials, loss, despair, grieve. We've all been wronged and misunderstood. Sometimes we have to cut ties for safety or give a ... Keep Reading
My Love Language is Carbs
Years back Gary Chapman wrote a book called, The Five Love Languages. It outlines five ways to express and experience love. I'm not sure expressing love should be limited to five different ways, however I am fairly confident on what my love language is. The only thing more satisfying to me than eating carbs is baking carbs for those I care about. Watching someone enjoy something that I have freshly baked, seems to bring me the same euphoria as a runner's high. Yes, I have experience with that as well.Carbs seem to get such a bad wrap ... Intention to Details
It's an amazing, sunny, spring morning here today. The birds are singing and my dogs are going crazy at all the singing. Both of my morning devotionals today have me charged with the challenge of living each day with intent. How often do I allow the day to take control of me and find myself settling for less ? How much sweeter would today be if I paid attention to the details with intention. To really live today with the intent to not only make the most of it, but to truly, step back and live the words that I've meditated on this morning. ... Keep Reading
God’s Not in a Box, Why are YOU ?
Have you ever felt frustrated to let go and dare to pursue big dreams? I've raised my boys telling them and believing it, with all my heart, that God has big plans and a purpose for their lives. Sometimes, I just forget to let go and and allow God to work big plans in my life. In this season of life, I feel God telling me to not only trust Him, but have the confidence in Him to shine who He has created me to be. God gives us all gifts and talents and we were made to use them to glorify Him. He is the one who equips us and gives us our ... Keep Reading
